I waited to keep the Advanced Developer name for the longest time but that goes away on April 9.  So took the test.

Now I have both the Platform Developer 1 and Platform Developer 2 Certifications.   Back to 6.

Here are some pointers if you have to do this quickly.

Salesforce Advanced Developer going away.

This is kind of a sad that it's going away and being replaced.   I actually liked the Advanced Developer Tag.

The way to get the new one is different too.  For the Advanced Developer, you had to do three things.
A Multiple Choice Test, a  Programming assignment, and an Essay talking about what you did in your programming assignment.

They recommended 40 hours of work for this but I put in 80.  You had to make sure you wrote twice as many tests to test the positive and the negative.     It also was difficult to schedule the Advanced Developer Programming assignment only a select few can get it if you were on the ball.   I was able to get it and complete it.

The new title after the Transition exam is Salesforce Platform Developer II.  The Salesforce times are definitely changing.   Now you need to complete a Trailhead Super Badge and the multiple choice.
